LLC, Mr. Shamis Al Dhaheri on Tuesday, 5th of July 2011, signed an exclusive agency agreement with Impresa S.p.A. Impresa is specialist in Roads, Bridges, Railways and Metro lines and the agreement was signed to cover the exclusivity for GCC countries excluding Qatar. It’s a great achievement, as Impresa would rank 7th in Italy in a month’s time after its merger. On signing the agreement, Mr. Shamis Al Dhaheri expressed his satisfaction saying “Ali & Sons Infrastructure with its local expertise and human capital combined with that of Impresa, will create a strong partnership that will grow exponentially in the region.” Mr. Shamis went further and said “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of the team who assisted in actualizing this agreement.”

Mohammed Omar Abdullah, Undersecretary of the DED, in a speech during the honouring ceremony said Abu Dhabi plans to ramp up the contribution of non-oil sectors in the GDP to more than 60% by 2030.

He noted that developing national exports and enhancing the competitiveness of local products in international markets is a national responsibility and that the private and public sectors should commit to it.

The undersecretary said that the cooperation between the public establishments and the private sector has helped boost exports 53% in 2009.

He also said that the 31st GCC Summit in Abu Dhabi stressed on overcoming all the obstacles that stand in the way of establishing a joint GCC market.

“We will support this approach and we will work through specialized channels to overcome all the obstacles that hinder exports to the GCC markets.
